OUR RESEARCHES  - ENGLISH VERSION


The researches of environmental state in Karlino (soil, water, air)

The researches were carried out 7th November 2012 in school laboratory in Karlino. The aim of them was recognition the state of the local environment. Children were divided into 7 groups and each of the group got one research to conduct.

Before our young eco-researchers started to explore the nature, they were familiarized with the regulations used in the laboratory.

Then, each group got

the procedures of
making test.

THE FIRST TASK WAS DETECTING THE PHOSPHATE (PO4) IN THE WATER

The detection of phosphate (PO 4) in water.


1. Take test tube with symbol PO 4, fill it in with the sample of water to split bar.

2. Add 10 drops of reacting substance 1 from the bottle with symbol PO 4, shake it gently to mix together.

3. Add 1 drop of reacting substance 2 from the bottle with symbol PO 4, shake it gently to mix together.

4. Wait 5 min and  put the test tube on the colour scale sheet of paper.

5. Read the parameters.


THE SECOND TASK WAS DETECTING NITRINE (NO 3)
IN THE WATER

The detection of nitrine (NO 3) in water.


1. The test tube with the symbol NO 3 fillin of the water to split bar.

2. Add 2 metras of reacting substance 1 from the bottle with the symbol NO 3.Shake it gently. (You can see the metrol, when you turn off the cap)

3. Add 1 rule of reacting substance 2 from the bottle with the symbol NO3,shake it gently to mix together.

4. Wait 10 min, put the test tube on the suitable sguare on the colour scale sheet of paper.

5. Set the parameters.


THE THIRD TASK WAS DETECTION OF
AMMONIUM (NH 4) IN THE WATER

The detection of ammonium (NH 4) in the water


1.The test tube with the symbol NH 4 fillin with the water to split bar.

2. Add 10 drops of reacting substance 1 from the bottle with the symbol NH 4. Shake it gently to mix together.

3. Add 1 rule or reacting substance 2 from the bottle with the symbol NH 4. Shake it gently to mix together.

4. Wait 7 min,put the test tube on the suitable square on the colour scale sheet of paper.

5. Read the parameters.


THE NEXT TWO GROUPS WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR MARKING: OF THE VALUE AND THE HARDENESS OF
THE WATER

Marking of the value of the water (pH)


1. The test tube with the symbol pH, fillin with the water to split bar.

2. Add 3 drops of reacting substance fromthe bottle with the symbol pH, shake it
    gently to mix together.

3. Put the test tube on the square on the colour scale sheet of paper.

4. Read the parameters.

 

     Marking the hardeness in the water


    The test tube with a symbol CA/MG fillin with the water to split bar.

Add the next drops og reacting substance from the bottle with a symbol CA/MG

(count drops until the colour of water changes from pink into blue)


1 drop= 1 German degree

saft waterunder 7  degree

hard waterover 7 degree

THE SIXTH AND SEVENTH GROUP WAS DETECTING OF AMMONIUM AND NITRINE IN THE SOIL


The detection of ammonium in the soil


1.    1. From the sample of soil weigh 10 grams

2.    2. Pour the sample of soil into the empty bottle (PE)25ml

3.    3. Add 10 ml of solution of soil 1 , turn off the bottle and mix it together through 5 min.

4.    4. Filter the solution. (install the tripod, put the funnel into the filter, put the empty
      bottle under the funnel)

5.    5. The filtered fluid pour into the marked test tube.

6.    6. Put the test tube on the square on the colour scale sheet of paper.

7.    7. Read the parameters.

 


The detection of nitrite in the soil


1.      1. Pour 20 ml of solution of soil 2 and 80 ml of water into the test tube.

2.      2. From the sample of soil weigh 10 grams.

3.      3. Pour the sample of soil into the empty bottle (PE)25 ml

4.      4. Add solution of soil, turn off the bottle and mix it together through 5 min.

5.      5. Filter the solution. (install the tripod, put the funnel into the filter, put the empty
        bottle under the funnel)

6.      6. The filtered fluid pour into the marked test tube.

7.      7. Put the test tube on the square on the colour scale sheet of paper.

8.      8. Read the parameters. The results multiply by 10.

During making tests you must remember about some regulations:


1.      1. Use reacting substance according
        to the instructions, not to pour it of
        onto yourselves.


2.      2. You can’t smell and swollow it.


3.      3. You can’t touch the skin and eyes 
        with them.


4.    4.  You can’t eat and drink anything 
        during researches.


5.      5.  After researches – wash your
        hands carefully.
